Making a sculpture:
The story of an 8ft tall 650kg heavy, some say “Optimus” some says “Prime” Transformer

The client gave us instructions to make a giant 8 foot robot that could be given away as a prize. Each sculpture starts from, piles of scrap metal, mainly from cars, and motorcycles. A vast range of parts are available, including bearings, chains, conrods, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, gears, and many more. Each new consignment of scrap metal it is always different and, although some materials will be similar to what RoboSteel have used before, no two statues can ever be made exactly alike.

The basic structure starts to be created in 2-3 weeks:

After about 3-5 weeks the sculpture starts to take shape:

Finally after 8-10 weeks the sculpture is finished and ready for shipment to the client or in this case lucky prize winner.

And yes it really is 8ft tall...
